With all the roads & bike trails in the Marin Headlands, there are many combinations/permutations of routes that you can ride, These are my favorite two. These routes assume starting in the Battery Godfrey parking lot above Marshall’s Beach. If riding from the house, add 12 miles/1hour 26 minutes
Check out the weather on the Golden Gate Bridge cam. You can also check out the fog, including a time-lapse of the past 2 or 12 hours to get an idea of how the fog is changing today.
The Bridge to Hawk Hill
9 miles/1 hour 4 minutes of riding +/-869 feet
See the route on google maps.
Quick ride from the Battery Godfrey parking lot to the top of the hill across the gate and back.
Bonita Point to Fish & Chips
19.9 Miles/2 hours 51 minutes of riding +/1660 feet.
See the route on google maps.
Ride across the bridge, up to the top of the headlands to Bonita Point LIghthouse, back through the tunnel to Fish & Chips in Sausalito. For a more healthy lunch alternative, consider riding an additional 1.6 miles north on Bridgeway to Mollie Stones.
Easiest return (especially after lunch) is the Golden Gate Ferry to the Ferry building.
As an alternative to Lunch in Sausalito, hit Chinatown after returning to SF on the Ferry.
Note: The Lighthouse is only open for tours three hours a day, Sat-Sun-Mon from 12:30 until 15:30.
