Eureka & the Coastal Redwoods

Visit Historic Eureka via the coastal redwoods, return via the artist community of Ferndale and the Wildcat road, along the isolated North Coast of Cape Mendocino (the Western most point of the State of California), Petrola and Bull Creek redwoods.

About 596 miles total, 5-½ hours up and 6-½ hours back.  See the overview of the route on google maps.

Eureka was a major city in California a century ago, as it was the lumberjack capital of the Redwoods.  Eureka is westernmost city of more than 25,000 residents in the 48 contiguous states.

From Eureka, visit Trinidad Head 23 miles to the North.

Note: The Golden Gate Bridge is electronic toll only.  If you do not have a FastTrak responder, you can pay online before crossing or within 48 hours after you cross the bridge online at the FasTrak® website.  Note: If you are in a rental car and opt to be billed, your rent car agency will charge an additional “convenience fee” to process the payment.  Depending on the length of your rental, this fee can far exceed the cost of crossing the bridge.
